Magic Carpet Ride

This is a warmup problem for our second day in squamish this past weekend. There was another strong showing from everyone who climbed this weekend. Fun was had by everyone. We got some more of those great red brushes, James tried to eat a 32 oz. Flurry in five minutes and the border traffic was not heavy at all.

On another note. I almost crashed my car last Friday. I was driving past safeco field to get on I-90. Overhead view of the road is here, S Atlantic St entrance to I-90. I was in the left lane and going a little too fast and started to fish tail as I screeched around the corner. A few corrections later I going straight again, but I was certainly scared as I manuevered between the wall and a car next to me. As soon as Eric and I got to our destination I gave him my keys and asked if he saw what happened. He said, “no, did you see me?”. Apparently he went he went into the corner too fast, drifted across a couple lanes and then swerved around traffic that slowed down because of me. We weren’t racing, but either way this was a good lesson to not race and not speed in general because no one got hurt.

This weekend was our first trip to Squamish and it turned out to be a great one. The weather was great, a large group of us went and everyone climbed well. I hope we can keep this up for the rest of the summer. For more squamish photos check out my flickr account.

Besides climbing I have been getting exercise from playing soccer. The same people we climb with also started a new co-rec soccer team. We are starting playoffs next week. We ended up in fourth out of eight teams, which is pretty good for a team made up of mostly beginners. Since we are in top group of teams we will end up playing the much better teams from this season. This means the games will be intense, which is nice, but on the other hand it is kind of hard to get motivated when you know you will be playing a team who beat you the last time you played.

Work has been alright. After a couple projects downtown I am now on a new project with Microsoft. I am working in Redmond Town Center. I have close access to places to eat and parking is free, but everything is so expensive over there. The cost of food almost offsets the cost of parking and carpooling with my brother. I am exaggerating, but it is still expensive. I can’t complain too much because the work is fun and my coworkers are nice. On this project I get to be the test lead. I would rather be developing, but I am also getting a chance to learn some good tools, so this project should help me get staffed on future projects.

My friend tried to drink a gallon of milk in an hour. It was great. Added a great touch to the end of the weekend.
