Going back to Cali

A couple weeks ago I took a trip to San Diego for work. I got really sick during Fly Back, but felt better over the weekend. Here are a few pictures from Nikki.

Ski the Methow

I just got back from a short ski trip with Choi, his sister, Eric and Sandra. The five us of drove over the mountains to Methow Valley. We stayed in the Mazama Ranch House in Mazama, just outside of Winthrop.

The whole Methow Valley is really calm and runs at a much slower pace than this side of the mountains. Our plans were to snowboard for the first two days and then cross country ski the third. Unfortunately we arrived a little late on the first day due to my great navigational skills.

We snowboarded at the Loup Loup Ski Bowl for the first time. I was a little worried because of a recent trip to Stevens Pass wasn’t that fun compared to Alpental. I was actually quite surprised at the small hill. The runs were not too long, but they were small enough and had enough pockets of trees to make it not seems as open as Stevens. An added bonus was that we never had to wait in line because no one was there even though it was the weekend.

On Monday we went cross country skiing. This was a nice gentle introduction to skiing since I did not need to worry about going downhill. There were plenty of hilarious moments of crossed up skis and lost poles, but the views of the valleys and peaceful meadows the trails went through made it worth it. I don’t think this will be my first choice in winter sports, but I may end up doing it again since Eric and Choi had a good time doing it.

I will post some pictures this weekend when I get my computer up and running. In the meantime you can enjoy some of the funnier moments from the weekend.

Sandra: Has anyone locked the door yet?
Jon: Oh yeah, the acxe murderer is going to come in.
[Jon: is locking the door]
Sandra: Come on I’m from the city, we always lock the doors. If I was from here I wouldn’t.
[Jon: pretending to look out of the blinds, jump as as if something scary is on the other side of the window]
Others: uproarious laughter
Haychoi: Oh my god she jumped
Jon: She did?
Others: more uproarious laughter
[Jons looks out the window]
[Sandra: throw full bottle of water at the back of Jon's head]
[Jon: turn around to get hit in the lip with the bottle]
Everyone: More uproarious laughter
Sandra: A look of amazement, dread and fear.
[now everyone laughs]

LT: Okanagan county is the largest county in the U.S.
Eric: Really, I figured it would be in Alaska.
LT: Yeah, Alaska or Texas.
Eric: Texas is also known as the lone star state.

[Sandra playing solitaire]
Haychoi: Double click the mouse it’s a lot faster
Jon: The cards go where they should
Eric: Only when the cards go to the top
Sandra: Man I’m not getting the cards I need!
Haychoi: Press Alt+F4
[Sandra presses Alt+F4]
Sandra: Dammit!
Everyone: Uproarious laughter
[sandra hits Haychoi]
[Jon asks Sandra for laptop so he can type this up]

[After Sandra fell for the previous joke]
Haychoi: Tell them to hit the F13 key.
[Jon: thinking about what the F13 key does]
[Eric & Haychoi laugh]
Haychoi: You thought about that a long time.
