Woodland Park Zoo

I made it to the zoo the other morning and it ended up being a really grea trip. I finally saw the gorillas (including the baby), giraffes and jaguar. I did't get a good picture of the jaguar because it was pacing quickly and kids kept running into the pictures .... oh well. Oh yeah, I set my ISO to 1600 to shoot the gorillas and forgot the lower it for the rest of the day. I feel like a noob for that and it shows in the pictures, but fortunately the polarizer was able to salvage some of the pictures.

Saw a nice sunset today.

I finally got to do some donuts in the dirt with my car. It is a lot funner than snow, but harder to clean up after.

There are two sets of tracks. The first set of tracks coming in from the right are from my brother coming in hot drifting the corner and then heading up the hill. I followed suit, came in did two donuts and then headed up the hill. The tracks we left behind were priceless.

Overload is lying, but we seem to have been there a lot this summer. Everyone has been crushing, it is great. The motivations levels are high. We spent some time at American Gigolo when was Joy was with us. The light happened to be really neat.

I took a trip to Squamish this weekend. It is number three this season. I am pretty amped at how often we are going up there. This time my brother came up with a list of new problems to look at. Surprisingly we ended finding four pretty decent problems. The best find was a 3 star v5 called Diabolica. It is right near Black Slabbath. I think it is probably the best v5 in Squamish.

I created a new panorama today. The pictures were taken at Qwest field during the Brazil v Canada friendly soccer match. Because of policies I could only take my wide angle lens into the stadium, so a panorama was about the best I could do. Enjoy!

I went to the Brazil v Canada soccer game this past weekend. It was a great game even though it was a friendly. Neither team got blown out and it was a close game to 3-2, Brazil.

The game got me excited about Seattle's recent move to get an MLS team.

Had another good trip up to Squamish this weekend. The weather held out and we got two good days of bouldering in. It was pretty chill and we ended up running into lots of people from Stone Gardens, so it felt like a day at the gym.

I played with photoshop some more tonight. I had a sequence of shots of Roger on Ironman Traverse, so I put them together. I did not do a good job of shooting for the sequence. Next time I will have to pay more attention to making the photos food for a sequence. I still think it was fun to try with these photos because of the shadows and I wanted to remove the three other people in the shot. I also posted the originals in the photoshop collection.

I took a short trip to Bishop this past weekend to do some bouldering. It was a last minute decision to go, but I had a great time. I never fully got used to how high problems were, but I tried a few of them anyways. Even thought the trip was shorter and there were fewer people Bishop certainly gave Hueco a run for it's money as a climbing destination.

I was walking to work and some guy was asking people for change, pretty typical in downtown Seattle. As we were chatting he said 'What's wrong with your eyes?'. Hueco Tanks Mushroom Boulder Closed

Last week I spent some time in Hueco Tanks for a bouldering trip. I was fortunate to spend some time on North Mountain at the Mushroom Boulder. I say 'fortunate' because halfway through the trip the park closed Mushroom Boulder indefinitely to all activities (including bouldering). I didn't have enough time to project Mushroom Roof, but I did enjoy the climb before the restriction. Often touted as the best boulder in North America, Mushroom Boulder is certainly a destination in and of itself with the number of varied climb on all sides. I am happy that I got to see my friends finish their projects of Mushroom Tea and Mushroom Roof and I can only hope the boulder is open to climbing in the future.

The boulder was closed because foot traffic and crash pads had cause a noticable amount of damage to the soil and plant life surrounding the boulder. In order to protect the vegetation and cultural deposits underneath Mushroom Roof the boulder had to be closed. This is certainly an understandable situation that we have to respect as climbers, but it is certainly tough to lose some of the classic climbs that existed on that boulder.
