Email Hoaxes

So I got two of these today. One about making money and another about getting sick form drinking beverages. When you get an email that you think might be a hoax, please at least check out these webpages to see if it is a hoax.

Hey guys, I just set up a flickr account. I will probably only post photos I take with my new camera (rebel XT with 17-40mm L lens). Here is a photo of my brother working on Heartbreak Hotel. If you like what you see, there are more photos like this at my flickr.

Squish Squish Squish!

Squish = Squamish B.C., the apparent outdoor recreation capital of Canada. Last weekend was the first time I had ever been to Squamish for bouldering and I can understand why my friend Haychoi says that the goal of every weekend is to head up to Squamish to boulder. The drive is supposedly about 4 hours, but can be as short as 3 if you time it right (meaning leave Seattle or Squamish between 7 and 9 in the evening). Don't worry about getting there late because the August Jack Motor Inn will be open until 1:00 am for the late arrivals.

Despite the threat of rain we still were able to climb all weekend. The first reason is that the trees kept the boulders dry when it rained lightly and the weather forecasters were wrong and it didn't rain hard until Sunday night. Besides climbing there were other great moments such as:

  • "Is it raining up there?" (Sandra asking the girls climbing on the wall above us)

  • Kakaw kakaw, the sound of a viper

  • "Eric, I hate you. This is all your fault. Ok, one more try." (Choi talking abotu slab climbing)

  • "You gotta do what you hate." (Choi talking about slab climbing again)

  • Gnar gnar

  • Bomber

  • Plush (a Canadian climbers favorite word)

  • Jon: I opened the red bull for you if you hadn't noticed.

Eric: (Sniff) I think that's the bile.

  • The descent trail taking us right back to Erin's car.

  • Climbing down between some boulders to get Choi's shoe that Sandra dropped.

  • I took a few photos over the weekend in Squamish along with some short videos, Saturday warmup, Sunday warmup. Note: I am usually better at top outs than in those videos. Hehe.

    My tips are so sore!

On Friday night Haychoi called and asked if we wanted to go climbing in Leavenworth on Saturday and since neither Eric or I had been bouldering there we decided to cut our Cinco de Mayo celebration short, so we could wake up early and make the drive to Leavenworth.

We warmed up near the Skykomish river right before we got into town. After a couple hours we decided to head up to the Star Wars area to look at Darth Maul. George made it to the mantle move a couple times, but couldn't quite make it over. Next time.

We walked around the hills looking at some other classic problems like the barndoor arete, but we couldn't send that one. Next time.

Anyways, I met a bunch of cool new friends and had a good time. I definitely look forward to heading back to Leavenworth since it typically stays dry if Seattle is wet.

I posted a few photos I took whilebouldering in the Leavenworth Area.
