It is so much easier to blog when they are things going on in your life that don't involve studying. In the past few weeks my life has pretty much consisted of reading Chinese literature, Korean novels and doing CSE homework. Oh yeah, I went climbing a couple times too. Other than that my life has been stagnant.
Yesterday was my last final. I ended up waking up in the middle of the night and studying through th morning since my final was early in the morning and finals the previous day ended in the late afternoon. You might ask, why didn't I study before that?. I guess you don't know me very well.
In the last few days I came to a new conclusion about graduation. I am going to stay here for one more quarter, so that I can take some more programming classes. I don't really need to take them since I have most of my graduation requirements done, but I just want to take them for fun. Next quarter I am taking operating systems and computer vision. I think I will take compilers and artificial intelligence in the spring.
By the time I am done I will have taken 6 years to get my whole undergraduate degree, but then again I took a year off to work on a movie and go to China, both very worthwhile experiences I must say. I would recommend that everyone study abroad while they are in school even if it isn't to study a language.
So what about climbing? I have been trying to climb at least once a week, now more that I am on vacation. My brother and I bought an annual membership not to long ago, so I have been taking advantage of it and I think I will probably be going for 'free' once winter break is over. I have been getting better slowly. v2s are cake most of the time and I can do quite a few v3s with some work. Last night Choi got me to try a v4 and I almost nailed it, so I may only try climbing v3s and v4s from now on just to make sure I keep progressing and I don't just keep climbing easy routes.
In other semi-useless news I have found some online Chinese podcasts. http://www.chinesepod.com has some beginner lessons on speaking Chinese. I would recommend them to anyone who has begun studying Chinese and is comfortable with speaking and listening to the different tones. For anyone who wants to listen to some more spoken Chinese, there is a girl named Remy who is living in Europe and has been putting together an audio blog about her experiences. Don't worry they aren't just about shopping and the cute guys she meets. Actually they discuss some interesting topics like drug use. Check them out at http://www.princessremy.net. iTunes is a good piece of software, but if you hate any apple software, here is a list of other choices: http://www.podcastingnews.com/topics/Podcast_Software.html.
Oh yeah, if you think my blog is stupid and I should talk about other things (wink wink, you know who you are), just send me an email with some topics and I can discuss those.
